Saw this in the wild yesterday. A junkyard dog and a crazy German caretaker chased me down, won't be taking closeups in the future.
What is interesting is the satellite dish that looks fairly new? Not sure if it is a runner, the crazy German was frothing at the mouth thinking I was ripping off parts - yeah, i was on a bike. Living the wild life as a busnut. lol
See, maybe Hitler has a great grandson.
Looks like it could be saved.
Maybe it's the caretaker's house?
It's a Flx.
Indeed, a Flexible. The aero design seems older than it's actual production run "StarLiner" intercity coach (1957–1967). V[/size]alue much different than other typical busnut coaches here? Just curious as design is pretty unique.
Where was this? I want to do a satellite photo search.
Wasn't there one (or two) of these in Blytheville last year?
It is here: Hornbrook CA. Google maps shows the German Shepard attacking some busnut sneaking a peek.

I believe that is a 36ft GMC-even though the back looks like a Flx. Balooga bus is similar in design. Good Luck, TomC
Ok it's educate old Crabby time. I entered all of the numbers and still can't narrow it down. Or this thing just won't work. Do you have a nearby highway intersection because I see places that look like there are buses down there.
here is the location on Google Maps. Can't find the bus.https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8983825,-122.5533717,419m/data=!3m1!1e3 (https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8983825,-122.5533717,419m/data=!3m1!1e3)
Ok thanks. That does look like where it is but could be an older picture. I don't know how often they update those.
Tom, I agree. My first thought was that it was a GM PG2903. I don't know if there was a diesel version, but the gas jobs ran Buick engines.
At my first bus company, one of the mechanics lived in a 2903 parked on the property. Nothing in the Bus World Encyclopedia of Buses (1988), but there's a picture of a PG 2904 in Highway Buses of the 20th Century - page 78. Consistent with the front end photo. Both Flxible and GM buses had similar rear ends, we called them "torpedo backs."
So, I strongly believe it's a GM, 290x model. The inset windshield and the passenger entry door are strong clues. All similar Flxibles had flush windshields to the best of my knowledge.

How about this one?

Pretty sure that one's a Flx.

Drove by that one last year, did a driver switch in Florence, pony express to somewhere... it looked like it "belongs" there for some time?
Happy coaching!
Buswarrior
Yeah it belongs to the local dive shop which now appears to be closed (may have been closed for several years now) and so far as I can tell hasn't been moved in a decade. I live about 3 miles from there on the other side of the freeway.

Windtrader, you were bicycling in Hornbrook, CA? Do you live there? I know someone who does.

@Gary - yes, indeed, riding bike to the Chevron "supermarket". Brought up bus to ranch on the Klamath until the fall.
The bus is visible in the image, look at attached pointer. May risk another look to get more details but the junkyard German Shepard and his crazy German sidekick makes me think twice.
Thanks for the arrow.
Can see the tapered back.
Can't seem to see it in streetview. Maybe taken at a different time. Some nice country up there.

Take some raw meat along.
It's definitely a GM. Lights, bumpers, and 6 lug wheels just like the Belgua Bus. Flxibles came with 10 lug wheels and new look windsheilds. Looks like the front windshields have been replaced and does not match the GM or Flxible. The PD2903 was DD powered, 400 were produced between 46 and 49. The PG2904 was Buick powered, 200 were produced between 46 and 48.
A bit of info, the Belgua Bus is a PG2904 but was converted to a DD 4-71, its production number is 066 and was delivered to the Utah Parks Company in 12/46. The Utah Parks Company was owned by the Union Pacific RailRoad and shuttled tourist between the railroad station in Cedar City UT to Zion and Bryce NP. Also the GMC label was not used until sometime in the 80's, before that all busses are GM.
Hey Ed H. isn't that the road you lost your shower tiles on many years ago, LOL :)
No Dave, that was when i took it about 9 miles out into the desert 2 times near Yucca Az. One hour each way on a washboard road. That taught me to stay on pavement. :)
