Title: 6V92 Remote Oil Filter Re-Location
Post by: brettpearson67 on April 24, 2020, 04:14:01 AM
Was wanting to relocate oil filter to more convenient spot. Does the filter have to be mounted at a certain elevation relative to the pan oil level? I guess in other words, can it be mounted up high, above pan?

Mount it anyplace you want makes no difference

My transit bus (8V-71) originally had a remote oil filter that was mounted in the middle behind the engine. Great if you are doing the maintenance from a pit, but even with the bus up on blocks, not a good location. So after the oil filter broke off (whole another story) and I had a spin on put on, I changed the location of the oil filter. To get to the original, I had to remove the radiator (V-drive). I then had two oil lines made up (Hose Man) so now the spin on filter is right inside of the right side access door. Very convenient and easy to service. In the 17 years it has been on, no leaks, no issues. Good Luck, TomC
