Title: Light on stairs
Post by: richardkillmon on April 15, 2020, 11:28:49 AM
I have an 1976 MCI 5B with a clear light on the one step/side of the stairs.
I can't find power to it, which switch activates it --- Driver's light, Clarance, headlights????

thanks

Rick

Not sure if it is similar to the GM, but mine is on whenever the engine is running and the door is open.

There should be a switch on the panel to the left of the driver's seat that is labelled: "step light".

In that case you can put a switch anywhere!  I would mount it either on the right side of the stairwell near the grab bar if you still have it, or just inside on the wall on the left side up by the co-pilot seat. Put it where you can easily turn it on and off so that you can use it at night when you are going in or out of the door.  Mine had a dead bulb so i got a new one and quickly found out that the glass gets real hot. I put in an led light, think that it was 10w, and found out it was so bright that it would blind you. Went to a 5w and it was the right amount of light and didn't get hot. :)

Here's a couple pics of my bus, an MC8. It has the lights and the switch on the left side driver panel. PO also wired up to work via the house switch when entering/leaving
