Title: Eagle air tank mystery
Post by: 6805eagleguy on March 28, 2020, 12:54:47 PM
Eagle air tank mystery

1968 model 05

Tank between front torsilastics is unhooked...

Probably because it was leaking.  I have a new tank so that is not a problem.

I need to know how this was hooked up originally.

Right now treadle is supplied directly from rear tanks above drivers.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Mason

That was a auxiliary tank some 05's had it for the wipers and some didn't

So then what is tank under seat?

And that would mean that the treadle is supposed to be supplied from the 2 rear tanks?

Might be for the air doors.

My 05 had 2 tanks 1 on each side above the rear axle,a ping tank inside the rear drivers compartment below the battery and a tank mounted on the rear housing mine was a dual air system the 68 model was a single air system could be someone tried to make it a dual air system .Go to the Bendix site and plumb as a dual air system and you cannot go wrong 3 tanks is all you need both tanks feed the treadle foot valve>If you are using spring brakes it will look similar to this when you are done, only it will have a relay for the bogies

I'm near my manuals now, here is what I have depicting the whole system for serial numbers up to 7443, dated 1968:

Ok it looks like it is plumbed correctly right now.

Somebody did put spring brakes on rear axle.

Thanks for the help.
