Title: Water Leak
Post by: vickyronoscar on February 26, 2020, 08:23:05 AM
We just purchased a 1995 Prevost Vogue Motorhome. It was a Mitchell conversion.

When I toggle on the water pump, fresh water pours out the plumbing vent cap located on the roof. It quits leaking if I crank / air up the coach.

Does anyone have know how to fix this malfunction?

Some pneumatic control or portion of your water system.

I'd be tracking that down and eliminating it.

Hard enough to keep a new coach full of air...

Happy coaching!

This is really bizarre.  I have never heard of such a thing and can't even imagine what would be causing it.  I would love to see a short video of the water coming out the top of the vent as this is really strange. I can't wait to hear if anyone else has experienced this.

OK, ditto re: video - interesting.
Also, does the leak also occur if on city water and not aired up?

Best Regards, Phil

Very interesting.  Could it be possible that when the air bags deflate and the bus settles, it crimps a hose somewhere?  Does it have a toilet that uses compressed air?  I wonder if crosses water/air lines would do something weird like that.

Is the water pump hooked up wrong and pressurizing the tank?

I can't come up with a scenario that sends water out the roof vent. How large is this vent line? The typical 1-1/2" diameter or smaller? Is the holding tank full of water? Something here is not making any sense.

Was your bus ever a Fire truck? :)

The only time I've seen a tank overflow through the roof vent is when the city water connection has a malfunction which causes the black tank to overfill. As long as the toilet seal holds, the water will climb the vent tube and exit through the roof vent.
Can't see how that would be happening in this scenario though.
Have you looked in the vent tube from the roof to see what's in there?

That would be a riot, eyeballing the vent pipe just before the eruption.  :o ;D

So... You guys think this was a Troll?
I did from the start, hence the post about trading buses that got deleted.

I also find it a little hard to belive. Only if on city water with a full black tank could water come out the vent
