It depends on what dish you have.  Some will work on both, but most will not.

Clifford, i have an old King Dome Auto Scan, (not an in motion), that is just sitting on a shelf in my garage taking up room. No body seems to want them, they all want the in motion ones. If you think that the dome will fit you can have the whole thing. :)

Clifford contact dish outdoors, for about the price of a replacement cover for yours you can get a new set up for your CC. our new set up cost $348 complete, in motion will be more. You can also use your existing coax, and hell I'll even install the new dome for ya. The pay as you go (month to month) is nice. ;)

From my reading the in-motion functionality requires that the motion controller be able to know the Satellite signal strength, which argues against being able to change vendor types.

Clifford we have a Playmaker dome( Three screws into the roof and hook up or reuse a coax cable to the DVR and turn it on). It will find one of three satellites sometimes. It cost us 300.00 about, at the "Q" and we got the Flex program for 30.00 a month now 49.00 I believe. It is OK if you like watching news, weather, and a few cooking shows but not much for regular channels. If we had Dish at home it would have only been 8.00 more than our home bill to go on the road with the same account but we don't. To get any better channels it will cost you 99.00 a month or more depending on which ones you pick. When we get somewhere we call or go on line and have to give them our zip code of where we are so they can ping our Wally DVR unit and then we can pickup the local news and channels. They only bill you when on the road and you call them and tell them you are not on the road. They know if you cheat and turn it on because that will activate the next month and they send you a bill for that month.
We got a air antenna and put it up when we are stopped for the night and generally pull in 8 to 50 channels and the local news stations.

Beings we use a Tablo DVR at home to record anything we want onto it which I put in a 2 Tarabit hard drive in it and we link it to our Phones when on the road and can play anything we have recorded TV, Movies, Series, Sports, to our TV by hooking up a HDMI cable to our computer which we can get it on also or mirror it to our TV from our phone also. Then just use the antenna for local news etc. Oh and that is all a one time purchase and you own it. Antenna is cheap and the TABLO Quad DVR is under 300.00 but only once. ;)
