Have some friends that have been paying for 40 years on a Gold Membership Thousand Trails unlimited stays, Home based out of California but could stay originally anywhere in the US.
They are retiring and want to use it but when they contacted the company they told them they can only stay 2 weeks at a time and as far as the Gold Membership there is no such thing (anymore?).
Anyone have any info on this? TIA
Just looking if anybody has any Idea why they are having such a hard time getting information from Thousand Trails on how to use this membership they paid for. :)
Looking at their website, it seems like they've reduced their membership type to just one. However, if they've been paying for their Gold membership all this time, I suspect that they still have a contract which is in force, unless there is a clause in it allowing TT to make changes unilaterally at any time.
I'd suggest they did out their contract or whatever paper work they can find to see just how their membership is configured. TT may be on the hook to honor their contract.
Been there with 1000 Trails you can put Sam Zell the owner and Marcus Lemonis owner of the Affinity (Camping World) and other rv business in the same basket. All we got back from TT was the original price of our membership after $15k of attorney fees and court costs,I feel bad for your friends
It's not unlike the health club scam's that sell "lifetime" memberships, and then sell out to another company which dishonors the membership, or the data plans that are "unlimited", but throttle down when you use it. It pays to be very skeptical of any "lifetime" deals - whose lifetime is involved, the purchaser's, the product's, or the longevity of the company? :(
Thanks guys for the info. Thats what we were looking for. They were both Doctors and way to busy to worry about anything other than paying the yearly dues etc and now that they are actually retiring they decided to maybe go full-time and start using their membership but when they asked for a blown up copy of their contract they told them they no longer have that membership then ended up sending them the contract enlarged. The Doc's said they never got any other addendum to that contract in that time and were wondering if we had heard anything and that's when I thought of you all who are much older and much wiser than I . ;) may have gone through this before.
kinda wish the life time deals were on my life time not on some shady business life time
to many scams out there today
