Title: 4104 bay door locks
Post by: JohnVickrey on January 07, 2020, 05:49:20 PM
Don't know if anyone is interested, not many 4104's left.
This is what I did for bay door locks.  I can only post 4 pictures but I have several.  So, if you have questions please ask and I will try to explain.
I used door locks from several old cars.  The control switch is from a Thunder Bird whose year I could not determine.   Of course you could probably do this on other buses as well.

That looks interesting. Would that work for other GM buses with similar bay door handles? (4106, 4108, etc)
What do you do if your batteries go dead? I'm imagining that the batteries & charger are behind one of those locks, so do you have a manual over-ride somewhere? Or if one just fails on you?
It would be great to be able to lock/unlock at the push of a button, but it would worry me to not be able to get in the bays if something were to go wrong.

Hi John
Wish we could meet up at Arcadia one of these years! Nice to see you on the board.

This picture is the safety.  Small cable attached to the pin and run up inside the bus.  If the battery is dead, you can pull the cable to unlock the door.

And there you go...now you've got me thinking about a future project. Thanks for posting about this.
