Just got a notice for one of my vehicles, a 2 year renewal just tripled in cost. Looks like the 1 and 5 years did too.
5 year may have only doubled....such a deal.
They added a temporary public safety tax for roads $38.00 a year for all plates (yea and I have ocean front property for sale in AZ) it will never come off,I knew it was coming so I got 5 years on everything before it hit DMV people had no idea why I was renewing with a year left on the tags they shook their heads,Renew 1 year at time ED they may surprise us and take it off as promised
Too late, i just got thru renewing for 5 years. Will have to wait and see what happens.....so what is the public safety tax supposed to be used for?, slow down the drivers in Phoenix? LOL

Supposed to be for roads and bridges but I think most of it is going toward the teachers raises Ducey gave, they are starting to do a lot highway work around though
Oh boo hoo lol. We pay 135.00 a year on our 2002 Buick, Bus 79 is 152,00 a year my Jeep 1995 wrangler $170.00 a year.
They tried to raise ours years ago three time what it is now and we turned it down so they added it to fuel once again. They were suppose to use it for roads and it didn't happen so this year when people complained about the road they tried to add it again to fuel and we turned it down again. >:(
Dave our plates are still cheap compared to most states my new ride was only $170.00 I was thinking more like $400.00,lol just kidding but we are getting the roads in top shape for the mass exit of people leaving CA I heard through the grapevine
Ain't no secret been happening for years but more fools keep coming in to fill the spaces. And the roads still aren't fixed. LOL
A friend of mine bought a house over at the coast ( 2nd house for family vacations). He tried to get insurance for it but two many trees around it. Environmentalists won't let him cut any trees and the Insurance Company is charging him $530.00 a month and that is ony for 50% and then he has to go through the state for the rest which is $375.00 a month. And they very rarely have any fires or earthquakes in that area of Timber Cove on Hyway 1. Crazy
We all pay one way or another. Our annual renewal fee is less than $125, depending on weight. But our property tax and income tax make up for it. You guys in AZ pay a rate of somewhere around 0.845, while we pay a rate around 1.94 on our houses. Like I said - we all pay.
Now with the safety tax in AZ the $38.00 per year is more than the tag cost for 5 years in some cases ,my DL3 was $55.00 for 5 years. If you are disabled here in AZ either you or the spouse you are property tax exempt lol I found that out after I paid my property taxes,AZ is not a bad place to live 10 months out of the year the summers suck here at 300ft elevation
how can you guys afford to drive your coach's ? with the tag being so expensive ?
we pay $47 for car or truck or coach a year !!
but our gas and diesel is like $ 20 a gallon . not quite but some days it feels like it
dave
Up here in the Seattle area we have a particularly bad transit tax for something that won't get built for another decade or more, that gets added onto our plates that's based on the value of the vehicle when it was new.
In the case of my five year old Tesla it adds a fixed $800.00 a year to the cost of the tags.
If I moved a half a mile east I wouldn't have to pay it.
I see you are in Bothell, half mile east must put you in Snohomish County. :) I grew up in Duvall.

Yes I am near the Thrashers Corner area; which I could coast down hill too.
