Any feedback on the insurance situation regarding insurance on bus conversions?
There are quite a few threads about this already, so you might benefit from doing a search.
In brief, my recommendations are:
1) Work with an independent agent. He/she will have lots of companies to approach to get the policy written, will know how to help walk the application through underwriting, and in general can make the process lots easier. If you call the main number for most insurance companies you're going to be talking to a low-level customer service agent that may have no idea what you are trying to insure or that may just be reading off a check list which says 'no buses'.
2) Assuming your bus is registered/licensed as an RV/motor home, don't use the word "bus" when discussing insurance. You have a class a motor home. They might see that the serial number is attached to a bus chassis in their computer, but remind them it's a motor home.
3) Be prepared to back up the value you want to place on your bus, if you're getting coverage beyond liability. We have a policy with an agreed valuation. When the policy was written we supplied a professional appraisal along with good clear photos which the agent took to underwriting.
4) If you have not yet done the conversion or have not yet titled/registered as an RV, you'll probably need to get liability insurance for a private bus.
I'm sure that others will chime in with other helpful tips.
We're currently with Progressive, but since insurance is a state-by-state thing it may or may not be available in your area.
Just shop wisely the prices are all over the map,I got a quote from Progressive for my new ride they quoted me $8,014.00 for a year :'(,State Farm had a better policy with better coverage for $2,028.00 per year heck of a difference in price
Consider having all your insurance in one place. Adding a somewhat undesirable bus conversion alongside your desirable property and auto insurance often helps.
Bus conversion alone might be harder/more expensive.
Insurance industry as a whole is hardened at this time. Rates going up, lines of business being abandonned, not an easy time to be doing "unusual" things.

Maybe the progressives at Progressive think they need more money to donate to Bernie.
Someone put these guys up just the other day and said they will insure conversions. I don't have them or know anything about them.

Mark I had no intention of buying from Progressive any ways just was looking for starting point
