Most houses nowadays have garbage disposals (pigs) in their kitchen sink. How prevalent is this in bus conversions? Do the higher end RVs now all come with a built-in pig or is there some reason this is not recommended?
I suppose there is the argument that a pig will require more water for flushing the chopped up food waste down the sink where the garbage can be more easily be put in the trash and taken to the closest dumpster. What are your thoughts on this? Enquiring minds want to know. :)
We don't use our disposal at our house much because of the septic tank. I don't believe it is that needed in a bus.
Now in our truck, I'm installing a 8 place setting dish washer. It is 18" wide. Ultimately will save water over hand washing. Good Luck, TomC
Unnecesary raw food scraps into the tanks makes for more biological activity...
More rot makes potential for more smells?
And if split black/gray, now the gray is poluted too.
Not in my bus, thank you.
Happy coaching!

Come on Gary. Just keep taking out the garbage. Its not that difficult.🙄
Remember,,,he doesnt have a wife to nag him to do it..>>>Dan
The problem is people don't use enough water because they do not a unlimited supply like a house, then the water leaves the P trap leaving the residue and plugs the piping.I hate the part of cleaning pipes out from coaches that had a disposal in fact now I just tell people why the plumbing is stopped up and they can clean it 8)
Might want to consider a "Built in Pig" below the toilet instead Gary, you're Welcome! ;D ;D 8)

When we pulled our galvanized steel tanks and coated the inside the fresh was clean as could be. The black tank was in really good shape but we coated it anyway. The gray tank was the worst. We cleaned and coated it with some high food grade epoxy. The food scraps and shower water had to be what worked the tanks over as near as I can tell. The corrosion was similar to what I see when we work on galvanized steel drain lines. I don't think I would like to add anything to that that would get the fermentation process to accelerate.

You mean for your Back tank like mine. It will shoot waste up hill if needed about 140ft through a 5/8 garden hose. HA :)
