Title: GM Bumper Guards
Post by: richard5933 on October 11, 2019, 01:06:28 PM
I picked up a pair of bumper guards at the Blytheville rally - they were unusual and seemed like something worth having. Now I'm not so sure.

Does anyone know if they were ever installed on the Buffalo series buses? I only see them on the 4104, so I'm not sure. With a little persuasion they will fit my front bumper, but now that I'm home I'm not so sure that they were meant for my 4108.

Does it really mater if they ever were used on an 08?? If you can make them fit, it would look great and be a first!!>>>Dan

They were a 4104 option. Ours had them. Can't see their point. May have been for pushing, but you shouldn't do that with our coaches. To great a chance of buckling body above front wheel wells.

If they fit, they might be useful to prevent damage when someone backs into you gently.

Doubtful. They are pretty shallow and unless it is a square hit, the bumper will be damaged. Btw, I believe those bumperettes are cast aluminum,  and will crack or break from a moderate hit, Sell them to someone restoring a 4104. Use the money to buy a Prevost shell.😏

Decision was made today to sell them to someone restoring a 4501. They would have required modification to fit the 4108 since the profile of the bumpers is slightly different (4108 has less pronounced bulge along the centerline of the bumper than the 4104/4501.)

Better they get used on the correct bus than I mess them up trying to put them where they don't belong.

Not sure what I'd do with a Prevost shell, even if I could get one for that little.
