Title: How many PSI of boost?
Post by: Scott & Heather on September 09, 2019, 02:07:29 PM
The other thread discussing a turbo replacement on a 60 series reminded that I had wanted ask those in the know what normal boost was for a DDEC II 8v92 with a 500hp setting? My max boost I've seen with this setup was 26psi. That sounds normal to me but I wanted to ask the hive mind what they thought?

You are good average is around 22 lbs with standard setting ,Arnold has that one pumping some fuel I have one in friends bus that I have up to 31 lbs.He runs around 20 psi for fuel mileage around 6.5 mpg @ 20 psi and 4.3 @ 25psi and above

I run 40ft of 1/4" air line to a dash gauge on my 6v92 mechanical.

I've almost buried the needle past 25 psi on  long pulls in 3rd gear.  I try and keep it under 10-12 PSI  unless I need to, I get 6 mpg pulling the toad 7-8 mpg solo doing that staying around 60-65 mph.

I'm thinking about adding a turbo blanket and header wraps.  Attached is a graph showing not only total boost pressure improvements, but also reduced turbo lag.

Ok. So my numbers are good. Pushing that boost too long eventually leads to hot coolant...so I don't get there often...but every once in a while...
