Title: Dorian dancing on my head...
Post by: bevans6 on September 07, 2019, 05:40:24 AM
Well, in about five hours Dorian is scheduled to pass directly over my house, probably Cat 1.  Bus is in the barn, what precautions I can take have been taken, which are very few, and time to sit back and enjoy the show.  Have my storm chips.

Maybe you'll get lucky, hit the big time, have a disaster and Anderson Cooper will come to take your picture.  Hope not.

Brian hope you're weathering the storm well! We in FL dodged that bullet, go figure - now it's on you. We went the distance this hurricane season as you probably already know. Thoughts are with those in the Bahamas...

Gusts around 60 mph, which is up there, but been there, done that, I guess.  Generator on for the last three hours, and the outage is expected to be restored on Tuesday, which I figure is just a save-@$# guess.  Currently watching Bianca Andreescue beating Serena Willams 6-3, 4-1, and a win here would be a Canadian Hero story.  We'd probably elect her Prime Minister...

She'd be light years ahead of the dip$hit we've got right now.

Any connectivity Brian?

Reports of 300k to 400k peeps no power.

Doug over on PEI power off last night, not long after yours went out.

Cell data for as long as phones and towers keep working...

Happy coaching!

Growing up in eastern NC, my dad always said "a hurricane that passes off to your east is less likely to hurt you".  Dorian slid right by - off to the east.  My house was 55 miles from the track and the power never went off.  OTOH, we get a hurricane or two every couple of years and the "dead wood" is pretty well trimmed out.
My wife is part owner of a house at the beach near Morehead City.  Apparently, was within 20 miles of the center (no info whether it caught part of the eye) but no problem.

I heard from Doug on PEI, power was still off mid afternoon.

There are few trees anywhere in the path that weren't damaged or torn right out.

Brian likely busy helping out.

Happy coaching!
