Hello bus nuts... I'll explain this as best I can. I find that when my HT 740 is shifting from 3rd to 4th, if I am still picking up speed, then no problem. However, I find that when I am going slow, and it decides to shift to 4th gear, it is as if it jumps back and forth in and out of 3rd and 4th, like it cannot make up its mind. If I completely let off the throttle, it goes ahead and shifts, then I can resume driving. But if I am at a speed where it is on the edge of shifting, it seems to jump in and out of 3rd and 4th, sort of in a jerking motion. Is this normal? Thanks all, Glennman
Yes it is.
That's why you shift a 740 yourself, it is too eager to shift up to the next gear, and then hunts or bangs hard, when it goes back down.
It can be trusted to do the 1-2 and 2-1 shifts itself, so you go from neutral to the 2 position. That will do everything around town by itself.
You choose when 2-3 and 3-4 happen, same coming down, you select 4-3 and 3-2.
My shift point was 37 and 50 mph indicated on the speedo for those shifts.
Happy coaching!

The modulator is out of adjustment
Hold it in 3rd until you really need the speed then manually shift up to 4th past the normal shift point, and it won't do that. My V730 (which is a HT740 without 1st) does that also. Good Luck, TomC
