Title: DD3 Brake Video
Post by: richard5933 on August 11, 2019, 01:32:49 PM
There was a thread recently about DD3 brakes. For those wanting to see the insides of the brake can, here's a video of a bus converter working to rebuild a DD3 can on his bus.

I can't say whether or not he was showing correct procedure, but the video does show a good look inside the system.

Thanks for the link. Most detailed information about the DD3. When I need to dig in, it won't be a black hole.  ::)

I would have thought those were a remove-and-replace assembly. Might have been a good idea to lube the rollers, clean and paint the corroded surfaces, etc.

90% of the time the DD-3 are so rusted you end buying new or rebuilt units anyways.the last Bendix class I attended  the instructor would not even take a question on the DD-3 chambers

When I replaced mine the old units were working perfectly yet were too corroded (the aluminum castings were disintegrating) to even think of rebuilding.  I could barely take them apart.  Worked perfectly, though.

Mine were in decent shape, and I rebuilt them. Got my parts at Mohawk bus parts. I don't know if they still carry parts for them anymore.
