Title: Jake Brake Wiring
Post by: dalewilliams225 on May 27, 2019, 07:57:04 PM
My Jake Brake isn't working and some of the wiring in the front is disconnected. Wire 143 as show in the attached picture isn't connected to anything. I have the service manual but it doesn't show me anything that is helpful. Does anyone know where this wire is connected in the front panel ? I put a red circle on the picture where the disconnected wire is currently located. Thank you for any help you can give.

There might be a good reason the wire was disconnected. It may or may not have anything to do with your Jakes. Might be a good idea to do some preliminary inspection on the Jakes themselves before reattaching wiring.

Do you have a wiring diagram for your bus?

It would be helpful if you added some information to your signature so that we know what bus you're working on.

Thank you. I will add the Bus info to my Signature.  I only have the Maintenance Manual that show connections in the back panel but doesn't show the connection in the front. I wasn't sure if there was a missing relay because there doesn't seem to be a place to plug the wire into. This is my first time dealing with Jake Brakes so I wasn't sure what might be missing or damaged.   1984 Eagle Model 10. V6-92

Turn the Jake switch on and check for power at the buffer switch on the governor,if you have power on 1 side of the switch then you have another problem, the switch in front gets it power from the ignition switch and that is a lot of places on that panel and lol Eagle used a lot of different ones  look for a 5 amp inline fuse that powers your Jake on a Eagle
