It's been years since I last posted! Blew the clutch/throw out bearing in my MCI 7 and I have available a donor MCI 9 with an automatic with everything there, except the engine. Can I get a list of items I need to salvage from the donor bus? Cooling the tranny is my big question: Are the radiators interchangeable? I kinda don't think so. Thank you!

As you know, the MC7 rads are shockingly small, compared to later models.
The last of them were optioned with autos, and were easy to overheat... every model had increasingly larger sizes of radiators...
Nothing is impossible, you could carve out a larger rad space back there and stuff the MC9 rads if you want to... grab the squirrel cage fans too, if you're going that route, they are likely larger.
The easier route...
If you install a large enough Hayden oil to air cooler in a side engine access door to accomodate the auto tranny heat, the existing rads can continue to take care of the engine.
Take all of the associated coolers from the MC9, so you have options, when you change your mind later...

The oil cooler sounds like a great way to go. I am going to grab the squirrel cages, and miter box as well. Any differences in miter boxes from MCI7-9? Could you tell me what additional coolers are on the 9?
I can't remember without looking at one...

I'd follow the big lines, inch or better diameter, coolant and/or tranny oil, to find where they trade heat. Take all the attached hardware and lines.
Always easier to get your replacement bits when you can dump something on the counter and say, "like this but longer"

I believe the transmission oil cooler is built into the oil cooler on the 8V-71 engine, so if you don't have the engine from the MC9 you probably don't have the cooler, so it's a moot point. Just adding an auto trans will not cause new overheating problems. I use an air - oil cooler on my MT 647 in my MC-5C, I made a really big one fit. If anything, it over-cools. Make sure you grab the driveshaft, and any associated flanges.
We put a large cooler in front of each radiator and they work fine. The problem could come in if you live/travel in cold weather, which we really don't. When it gets cold enough, the internal transmission cooler actually heats the transmission keeping it at optimal temps. I figured that if ever I was in a situation where the transmission was running too cold, I would put some cardboard over one or both coolers.
