I have been looking for a spinner knob for my MC9 steering wheel but most all choices out there have too big a diameter to properly secure to the thin stock wheel, any suggestions?
May or may not be legal on Buses. Is there a 50 State regulation on this or does it go State by State? I dunno. My old Crown Supercoach ex schoolie had a large diameter steering wheel sosss the bus could be safely steered with a power steering pump failure. Power Assisted Steering.
Can't vouch for the accuracy of the information, but try this:

Not sure I'd want one my my steering wheel. Could be a hazard if the wheel suddenly snapped one way or the other from a pothole or such. Except when shifting, I try to keep both hands on the wheel. Of course, after the accident I tend to be a bit more paranoid.
Try Tractor Supply or your local farm equipment dealer like a John Deere or New Holland I have seen those even in H/D in the mower section.they are must on wheeled equipment
I have had knobs on both buses.tractor supply one with a rubber knob that looks like a tractor tire. Works awesome
Found it at the local Tractor Supply. Fits perfect!

yep. that's the one. I have one on my ford truck too. They are the nicest spinners I've had. I've had knobs on my buses and all my cars/trucks for 15 years and been pulled over plenty with them on and haven't been bothered about it once. Modern power steering pretty much takes the suicide out of the knob lol.
I know it's illegal to have a spinner knob on a highway vehicle in California-- I've read it in the Vehicle Code.
Off California site,
Steering or spinner knobs shall not be attached to the steering wheel unless the steering mechanism is of a type that prevents road reactions from causing the steering handwheel to spin. The steering knob shall be mounted within the periphery of the wheel.

So they are saying it is ok for vehicles with power steering ?
With our laws here who knows but your right it does sound like that... ;)
I think it means the spinner knob must fall off if you hit a bump.

Watch the mounting... "within" and not beyond...
From a practical sense, make sure there isn't anything in the mounting that will snag your shirt front, or cuffs/sleeves, as it passes by when deploying the wheel using the rim.
Bad @$# and rip-free!
Happy coaching!
