Title: Alternate repower option?
Post by: TheHollands! on May 09, 2019, 06:12:16 PM
I drove by this Eagle today and had to pull over for a look. I've never seen a bus turned into a fifth wheel, even has room for the road in the engine compartment. The entry door looks problematic to me though. Not sure if engine issues made them think outside the box or how this came about. Thought you'd enjoy the pictures. Craig

It has a certain Carnival Atmosphere to it, and I think it is a sad end for an Eagle. If the drop box is not on the differential, they probably could have angled the car ramp up more and enclosed it, but then the framework would probably have to be modified. What a God Awful Mess.  :o

They could just have converted a van body easier. Maybe it was in a head on accident that wiped out lower front.

Well, it works??!  :-\
Somebody put quite a bit of work in it but I'd rather drive a bus then a truck... 8)

Maybe, for some, but if it is a good setup, why are they attempting to part with it? Might be good for a little person that can get in the front door without stooping. Looks somewhat like a long silver-sided horse trailer. Get the car out, make a horse ramp with a higher door, and you can pack a few in for a smooth Eagle ride.

I think that would be over the top for pampering your horses ::) :P ;D ;D

In most ways its sad to see this happen to an old EAGLE but at the same time, is it truly better than scrapping the whole thing? I wonder if it could be restored since it appears in tact.
Reminds me of the fact that Russia has had Lenin's body on display since 1924. He appears to be just sleeping but his body has to be "reconditioned" from time to time to keep it as if he were still alive.

Using an old drop box moving van would have been easier.

C'mon y'all. Why all the negativity?

We all see things in a different way. One mans trash is another mans come-up.

Let's give some we'll deserved kudos for creativity and imagination.
And, let's not forget the biggest reason we are all (well, at least me. I shouldn't speak for others) doing this conversion thing....enjoyment and FUN:)

I think that thing is awesome!
Might not be my 'thang', but what fun:)

Just one man's opinion.

I don't see much negativity in the posts, I just see clever witty responses to a anonymous bus in an undisclosed location. It happens often enough when someone comes across something unusual, we use our experience and wit to poke fun and offer our opinions. The same people that offer comments are the ones that come up with creative solutions when someone has a problem with their bus. There is a lot of tremendous experience among the contributors of this board; they can see the folly and mistakes of others because they have been through a few mistakes themselves. :)

Hi, my intent of posting the pictures was to show a unique take on busses. I think we each have our own preferred way we do things, in my building out my bus I learnt a lot from reading and looking at examples on this forum. This Eagle doesn't suit my needs, but I thought it an interesting out of the box design. I'm curious about the chain of events that led to the decision to do the work. Craig

Here's another online discussion about the thing:

Yeah, they were much less reserved (and a good bit more hilarious too.)

I think they could have gotten the Midget most of the way in if they'd really tried, but the door location and tow vehicle look to me like poor choices.
