Title: Phil Lyons
Post by: Geoff on March 20, 2019, 06:21:11 PM
Recently, there has been a lot of bad mouthing of Mike Kaldez, former owner and founder of Bus Conversion Magazine.  I know Mike, and I am not going to try to defend him, but I want everyone to know that this kind of bad-mouthing was not allowed on the old board.  Now I have a similar problem with one of the moderators on this board.  Only it hasn't appeared on the Board-- it has happened at one or more of the bus rallies.  Phil Lyons has been talking bad about my work on his bus without talking to me first-- inpugning my reputation without giving me a chance to set things right or deny what somebody told him.

There are some low life diesel shops that will lie about somebody else's work to make themselves look good and justify a big bill.  I can easily say Phil Lyons doesn't know the difference between a valve cover and a blower and is in no position to pass judgement on my work, which I pride myself in.

Hopefully, you and Phil can talk out the issue. With so few busnuts around, we need all the knowledge and expertise of the collective. Hope you work out the issue.

It's a shame that people can't just discuss issues that come up with each other first.
If that were the case, there would be so much less conflict which is often but not always based on childish petty nonsense.

Never happen like that Phil is a classy guy his 6v92 filled with water and bent a rod,I was asked to repair but did not have time but Phil said nothing about Geoff and his work that is just another rumor started in the bus nut world.FWIW Joe a long time well respected 2 stroke mechanic came down from Oregon and rebuilt the engine end of story

I saw Phil in Quartzsite in January. He showed us the work on his engine. He had nothing but good words to say about it. Gary Hatt and I replaced the fan belt for him. He said the shop ran out of time to do that. But it wasn't a big deal for Phil. I didn't sense any bad feelings on Phil's part. He seemed happy about what was done to his bus.

I should add that there was nothing wrong with the old belt. Phil had a new one with him, and said he would feel better if it was installed. Easy enough, 10 minute job.

Thanks all,

I've been to one rally in the past year. To my recollection I've not brought up Geoff's name. Nor would I. If someone is spreading stuff around please stop. The Moose has been worked on by many shops including MCI, friends, Geoff, and even me over the years. My life is too busy for this kind of stuff.

Best regards, Phil

A plea of nolo contendere gets you a guilty verdict.

Ha ha ha, I didn't know this was all a joke.  Going after one's reputation is usually regarded as slander.  Butt hurt is overreaction to a friendly jest.

I remember years ago Fast Fred kept posting that Richard (Drivivg Miss Lazy) had set the fire that took out his interior. Richard threatened to sue him and Fast Fred shut up.
