Title: Repo manufacturer plaque
Post by: richard5933 on February 24, 2019, 06:42:33 PM
Anyone seen these? Not sure if it's a good or bad thing that someone is remaking these things.

Interesting !! The plaque and a set of letter/number stamps and you can have a completely different bus.

Nothing wrong with reproducing one but is against the law to change one without a legal MVD person present I been through it before

It's wrong color and has other incorrect details. However, I will report them to ebay. There is NO valid reason to be reproducing these. There is EVERYTHING wrong with reproducing builders plates. As the owner of a proto-type Scenicruiser, the last thing I need is some clown claiming he has the same serial number. This just invites mischievous activity in my opinion.  I would think DMV would frown on this activity. We don't need this in our hobby. Period. You do not need a builders plate to register a coach, just supporting documentation, etc I know GM offered new blanks, but this is totally different deal.

The coloring on the left-hand panel is reversed.

Exactly. You would think for $485 they would have done a little research. I am glad their quality sucks, as fakes will be easy to spot.

The plate means nothing unless it has the manufacturer's special rivets holding it on

I'm sure someone makes those special rivets too. My P8M4905 spare says GM with Coaches below it. It has more of a brown background and rivets aren't in the corners.

Yes the special rivets are easy to find. Muscle car hobby is rampant with this sort of fraud. Heck this outfit advertises they will stamp "your" numbers on the plate. Do they require any documentation? They may sell the rivets as well.

LOL $485.00 ea if only Eagle manufactures Vin plate where worth that  8) Jerry Jefferson gave me a fortune years ago and I have been those away with the rivets and Eagle didn't use any special rivets
