1989 MCI 102c3 - looking for a new coolant level sensor. Coolant Low telltale stays on. Confirmed there's water/coolant in overflow tank. When I pull the plug/wiring from the sensor, the telltale light turns off. I'm guessing the sensor is shot?
You should be able to test it with an ohm meter and a pan of water, but don't ask me how. But someone should know on here. ;)
yeah, I used a bottle of water and my multi-meter to see if resistance changed but there wasn't any change regardless if the sensor was in or out of water. I'm guessing it failed open.
Trucks use the same sensor. I would look on eBay or go to a truck parts store, or even Napa ($$$).
ended up calling US Coach..should have it in a couple of days.
While you're in there installing the new sensor, might be a good idea to check all connections and terminals for corrosion. That's what caused mine to give a false signal. Could probably have got it working by just cleaning things, but the corrosion was so bad I couldn't get the little nut off.
You can get a sender from O'Rileys that will work with a bushing for 10 bucks it doesn't need the long probe fwiw even one from the windshield washer tank works lol I am on the cheap side
