So instead of going through the hassle of selling our awesome 4104 (see https://www.busconversionmagazine.com/forum/index.php?topic=33649.0), we decided to donate it to a Cal-Fire firefighter who lost her home in the Paradise Fire. It was in storage for seven months in Fairfield, CA. Delivered to new owners in Dublin, CA in December 2018. I ran into a few snags when I went up to get her ready for the trip. I was able to work around, but new owners probably won't be able to.
1. Zimmer valve for shutting off fuel doesn't work. I bought a new Zimmer valve, but couldn't install it at the time. I shut it off by stalling it out.
2. Relay to Reverse isn't working. The problem lies between the dash switch and the relay to the Reverse solenoid. Power from the hot distribution post to the Reverse solenoid is OK.
3. The electric cooling fan won't come on unless solenoid is bypassed. Not sure if it's the relay or the temp. sending unit. Didn't have time to troubleshoot.
4. The new owners need some driving lessons - Four-speed non-synchro, shifting into reverse, etc.
I was planning on going up to Dublin next week to make repairs and give them a better orientation to the bus, but I've run into some complications from my recent heart surgery and may have to undergo a second major procedure to deal with an aneurysm distal to the initial repair. I can afford to pay for the repairs, but don't know any knowledgeable 671 mechanics out here. Any help would be appreciated.
Hope you're back to good health soon, Gordie.
