Ignore it? Pretend it never happened? Where do I even buy this? And do I replace the entire thing including the pulley wheel that's still on the engine?
You will be fine till you get another one some 8v92 that is all they had from the factory,they are easy to replace the seal and damper
Thanks cliff. Luke is checking into a new one for me. I've seen them online for $150 give or take. Again, I replace the whole wheel right? Rent a puller and pop a new one one? I'm not just replacing the outer part right?
replace the complete damper,a puller from Auto zone will remove it.A price for new one from DD is going to give you a heart attack.If you have a problem let me know I have plenty of used ones,maybe even a new one

Correct me if I am wrong. I was under the impression that these dampers had a viscous fluid in them and was critical for the vibration of an 8V92. I heard that if you even drop one that it should be replaced. You know more about this then I do. I have never touched an 8V92, just 6V92 and 71 series in GM's.

The cam damper is just rubber mounted, the crank damper is a viscous type those you are careful with
So can someone post a photo of the crank damper? I'm confused now. Luke at US coach didn't even know what he was looking at when I sent the photos. I found the new damper online for $150 but wasn't sure how important it was that I replace it
Thanks for clearing that up luvrbus.
The crank damper is on the bottom of the engine at the end of the crankshaft a large 12inch dia x about 2 inches thick behind the belt pulley I can see it in the 1st photo,don't take this as gospel but I think what you are looking for is a 5109863 number cam balance,the 71 series and the 6v92 does not use the cam balance, don't panic it will not hurt the engine to run it without the cam dampener
Thanks cliff. Ok. I feel better now.
It seems kind of weird that the pulley fell off. Did you test the hub to see if the camshaft is loose? I've seen the cam break there.
I didn't Geoff. I'll do that tomorrow. Let's hope not.
Scott are you Irish?,LOL ::)
Lol, no...I'm confused. What am I missing?
The luck of the Irish! You are safe Scott, until a DNA test says otherwise.
"Luck of the Irish" means being fortunate.
I like the Urban Dictionary definition: "This isn't luck at all, but more of an attitude, a positive look at a bad situation". That seems to fit Scott's experiences with his buses, things keep breaking and falling off, but he keeps rolling on.
