Does Blue Bird still make school buses?
Yes they do

OK, that is why, on my recent trip to Quebec, I went through Canada Customs at the end of I-87 (upstate New York, near Plattsburgh) with two BlueBird school buses. They were obviously new, had Indiana "Manufacturer's Transport" plates, and were painted the French translation of "Stop for Flashing Red Lights".

It was 2 different division Complete Coach Works in CA owned the RV division for several years before they sold it off at a bankruptcy,Complete Coach Works is still in business and going strong just not in the RV business
Roseville school distric just bought 32 BB, nice looking buses so they will be RV's in what? 10 years maybe, lol
Now Elk Grove school District just bought 30 Electric Buses but don't know who made them. 630 miles on a full charge.
All of the skookie builders are now beginning to offer 100% electric versions of their buses.
Time will indeed tell if they will be accepted or if they will flop.
Hehe if they would only wire the seat with enough harmless voltage to keep the little brats from misbehaving, that would be a nice bonus. :)
when they decide to put a small on board diesel generator that would recharge the batteries without the worry of driving distance or ever having to plug it in
then it might make a nice shell for a conversion
dave
Well that's where a hybrid would be ideal.
I don't think any of the 3 skoolie builders offer one at this time.
The MCI D4500 Hybrid is getting old enough now they should start showing up for sale you would think ? what are the MCI's now generation three on the Hybrid

Most bus conversions (except mine 8))now have a generator. I suspect with picking the right equipment this might be a doable thing.
Sure, they'll be available and needing 20 to 30 thou in batteries.
Don't know how but someone was telling me they recharge some of these with the brakes?
LA county, bought a lot of MCI commuter buses a few years ago and used the bays to fill with compressed natural gas CNG. They had almost an 800 mile range. I had a CNG truck it was so clean there was no smoging required and the CHP okayd them for the diamond lane, i have seen blubird cng buses for sale, but you have to replace the tanks at 15 years, back then, lvmci...
I'm guessing maybe you could have the tanks re-certifiied.
Regenerative braking is definitely a thing on buses. In fact, sometimes those units are recycled to be used as automotive dynos. I've even see setups where they used the axle and dualies as the rollers for a chassis dyno. Wild stuff.
