Anyone have a tire data book from the early 70s which would show the specs on a bias belted 12R22.5 tire from back then?
I'm curious to compare to specs of modern tires.
Couple of measurements that I think would be different are the overall loaded width of the tire, as well as the width of the actual tread. Love to find a copy of a book from the days of bias belted tires.
Ask Goodyear? They were MAJOR player back then.
Rode hard, slid on spit, flat spotted when parked, but, that's all there was...
Happy coaching!

The 10.00 x 20 was about the same size as a 12r x 22.5 I put 2- 10.00 x 20 on my fire truck last year, tube,liners split wheels and all, the old buses came with 9.25 or 10.00 x 20 I have a bus with the tube type 10.00 x 20's it is a big tire
11:00 x 20 should be equivalent to 12:00R x22.5

Can you help decode what the numbers refer to in relation to the tire size? Where does the rim size factor into the 11:00 x 20 sizing?
The side wall height is the determining factor not the wheel size
I have 4 22 in allow rims and tires that I have been trying to give away for years.
They came on my first coach when i replaced them with 24/5 rims.
uncle ned
PS I cannot understand why no one wants them. they are good split rims

Are they split wheels or lock ring wheels ?
In the mid 70's i had a truck with "lock ring" wheels 3 pieces. Didn't know any better i guess i thought they were the cats @$#, changed them all the time, repaired flats. In todays world everybody seems to be afraid of them.
I still have some but i don't even need to touch them as they are just holding something up.

You can still buy the lock ring wheels today, the '"split wheel" was a 2 piece wheel that locked in the center those were killers. All the scrapers, motor graders and off road trucks still use the lock ring type .I live in a farming area the tire guys here think nothing about fixing a flat on a lock ring type wheel, I am not afraid of one either

So, when referencing a tire which is sized 11:00 x 20, how does one determine what size wheel it would fit?
11.00 x 20 is a 20 inch wheel I don't under stand what you are asking
Don't we all have either 22.5" or 24.5" wheels? Did everyone have to change wheels when tires went radial or am I missing something?

Yep it was sorta of that way when they went from the tube type bias to the tubeless radial The US is the only country that ever used the 24.5 for trucks and buses, now the 22.5 are standard the world over including the US,you cannot mount a 20in tire on a 22.5 wheel or a 22.5 on a 20 in wheel
With the spoke style hub used on mostly older trucks and trailers the XX.00x20 or XXR22.5 wheel assembly would fit on a 20" hub and a XX.00x22 or XXR24.5 wheel assembly would fit on a 22" hub.
Like Cliff stated, the wheel and tire sizes where not interchangeable.
The HD large diameter hubs came in the two sizes of 20" and 22" (with a few weird exceptions) and still do. The spoke hubs are still referred to either 20" or 22".
You can interchange the 22.5 and the 24.5 on a disc wheel hub (commonly referred to a "Budd wheel") as there is only one stud diameter.
Our 04 still had the original 12.00x20's on lock ring wheels nwhen we bought it. 11r x24.5's were closest in size..
