Title: Don't you just love great advice!
Post by: dtcerrato on November 09, 2018, 06:25:15 PM
BK gives great advise. First time since we purchased the bus in 1979 it has been in a shop of any kind. BK recommended Josam Truck Frame & Alignment - well.... it was a most interesting visit. Pulled on the pit & 10:09 AM & was off before 11. No issues, alignment corrected & front PS wheel bearing needed a little tightening. It happened so fast - made my head spin - so I asked a question about Balance Masters &/or balancing the tires on the front (we run Centramatics on the rear). we pulled out of that bay and into another one for that work - didn't have the Balance Masters in stock that we needed so they performed spin balance - one of the front tires had to be spun 180 degrees on its wheel to keep from having to place 18 oz. of weight in one area. the whole place was awesome, Motorhomes, Big trucks & fire engines in & out like clockwork. We recommend Josams to all who need that kind of service. Thanks for the great lead BK!

Wow! That's rare, in my opinion to see an outfit rotate a tire on it's rim for a better balance on a wheel that size. You found a great place. Did they measure your caster?

Yes but there's no adjustment for it. I really expected for them to find a major on the front of that ole' bus. They complimented how good the general condition of the whole front end was. Toe was way out. Its a sight to behold how fast they mounted the state of the art digital computerized equipment on a vintage bus, any vehicle for that matter and watching on a large screen computer it getting corrected in a matter of minutes. When our bus came out of the alignment bay to go into another bay for tire balance they pulled a REAL LONG hook & ladder fire engine in and had her done before our second tire went back on!

Yes, there is no adjustment for caster on a stock 4104, but if you install an adjustable torque rod from  4108,4905, you can easily correct it from then on. Will stop any more wander. Worked on our 4104.

It connects from top of front axle beam to the body. There should be a non adjustable one there now. Same size and shape as the other suspension locating rods.
