Title: 4501 Cooling fan damper
Post by: tuccitown on October 09, 2018, 11:04:56 AM
Hi All,

I am currently looking for the part number and or source for the cooling fan damper for a 4501.

During maintanence I found that it has some chunks missing, still seems pretty solid but would like to get it replaced before to long.

Any leads or ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Jack

You can check with Luke. He may have an idea where to find one or get that one repaired.
If no luck there maybe you can remove damper and go with an equivalent fiberglass fan.

The front looks good the back is where it looks to have started to fail. I found it because I was checking the oil in the fan drive as you can see it seems to have started to leak.

Thanks,

Jack

Didn't some prevost have a gearbox driven fan for a side radiator?
I'm thinking it might be easier to find one of those fan and hub assembly & adapt it to fit your gearbox.

Just completed a 524 mile round trip without issues. Fan damper seems tight even with the fore mention visual issue. May be a non issue but will keep an eye on it for sure. I made a breather for the fill plug and now the fan drive used no oil on this trip.

The last trip was in the 90's so may have had something to do with the oil use with no breather on the gearbox.

Thanks for the suggestions,
