I'll donate $100 if you can add the old posts from the MAC board. I was very disappointed when this new (2005?) Board deleted all the great posts and harmony from the old members.

:o :o :o :o :o
Well, harmony might be a little strong, but there were many great and useful posts. I made paper copies of hundreds of them (and now I don't know where I put them). MAK Publishing might not have included them in the transfer of ownership, but it would be good to include them in the archives, just like it would be good to have the archives of the Eagles International site.
Where there is discord there is harmony...
Greetings bus folk. Re: the original forum
A number of years ago we had a forum which did not have modern security protections. That forum was hacked, sometimes several times per day, and I would run scripts to fix, and when that didn't work, I'd run manual fixups & repairs to try to recover the content. Fixups ran most every day with sometimes multiple fixups p/day. By the time of the last hack and before the new forum came online I did not continue to attempt repairs.
I will look for the snippets of the old forum to determine whether it can be somehow be mended into anything usable.
Kind Regards, Phil
What was the forum software? There are converters for converting various forum databases to SMF. Barring that, if you have the database, it might be possible to dump the posts in a format that could be archived.
no database. it was before that. the porn / spammers would wipe out the content files. and there was nothing but flat content files. That is, before they were wiped & replaced.
Do you have any of the content in a readable format?
Yes, that is what I'm referring to - trying to find anything usable that wasn't overwritten with junk. It's over a decade old as well, so it's taking time going back through old disks.
Yeah, well, good luck with that. :P
All the old boards were from before time.
Completely incompatible with newer forum software.
Unless the software (written on stone tablets) is available to run it on, like BNO does with its old archive, the only way is re-typing it... perhaps a "volunteer typist" button, along with the "donate" button?
The loss of the info was lamented at the time, I doubt anyone has bothered coming up with a solution...

Get everyone back together and we can have a do over.
I will start it. ;)
What kind of oil are you guys using and if so are my tires still good if they were made in 1967 and just lightly cracked on the sidewalls. ::)
Are there inverters that have Ross power steering or are they all Detroits. :P
Thanks in Ad-Vance!...
Don't forget the arguments about what kind of wire and cable to use.
Multi-coloured extension cords figure prominently, with solid copper house wire taking up a close 2nd place...

But wasn't the winner always Marine something? ;) LOL
Back then this board wasn't up and running long enough at 1 time to read. BNO was the king Ian and BW kept it going.LOL Ian would let people hammer it out, Fast Fred,Two Dogs,Ace and Dallas kept it entertaining till Ian would pull the plug.
Mak had the worst board around, my times have changed thanks to Phil.We now have a new generation of bus nuts they are more into to the technical BS they want a bus that you start and drive off into the sunset not spending 10 years to rebuild a rusty old Eagle :o lol even RJ has joined that crowd and so have I.
Scott is still doing it his way and the young man takes his licks and keeps going he is one I admire
Good morning - and thanks very much for the kind words re: old board & upgrade. :D
Yes, the old forum would frequently be offline until it was re-rebuilt. And 100% correct - that forum was also not compatible with, well, almost any new technology.
That being said, I've found some of the old files - and more details are coming back to me like a bad dream. :P :( :o
The old forum wasn't able to keep more than a limited amount of threads available at one time, so it was necessary to keep trimming off the old stuff from the index (main page). Else, it would slow to a crawl trying to load a humongous single web page. So, the process was to back up the old files from time to time, and now I've located some of those content files on an old archived disk.
A couple of caveats; there are no backups of the forum prior to my joining up w/ MaK. So, it may only be a year or two of the old content. Also, there is no database, so the content is nothing but thousands of HTML files w/o any kind of index. I'll get w/ Gary and Krash and review the status. And will keep searching for older main pages which may tie some of the files together.
We'll keep updating this thread, thanks all for the interest & suggestions. There were some very 'lively' discussions on that forum. ;D
Kind Regards, Phil
