Title: Air gauges
Post by: eagle10 on February 11, 2007, 11:29:54 AM
I have a 1984 Eagle 10 that just developed an air gauge problem. I started the bus in 0 degrees weather as we headed to Florida for a month. We  are in Florida for a month of sun and fun. The front and rear dash gauges pegged with no reading. I messed with the fuses etc. and nothing. Sometimes when I shut the bus down and turn on the key it works. Sometimes it does not. It might work and stop. It airs up fine but messed up air gauges. Also when the air gauges are off the fuel reads incorrectly. I have cleaned the fuses on these circuits with no results yet. I pulled the dash to check wires but nothing. Need some ideas of where to look to correct the problem. Thanks.

It sounds to me as if you have an intermittant ground problem.

Try running a jumper wire from a chassis ground to the dash the next time you have a problem.Make certain you have a GOOD ground, not just one that goes through another circuit.

Both my gauges on my 85 Eagle 10 are plumbed into the system.  No electric involved, air lines only.  I'm at a loss to see how you have air to the front and rear tank and no indication in the gauges.  Maybe something plugged them up??  From reading your post you're implying electric gauges.  If so, I'm no help.

My gauges are electric as I have only wires running to the them. I hate these intermittent problems but I need to find the solution. Anyone else with ideas. Thanks.

I think Dallas had the right track - check your grounds carefully.  Most low voltage issues are ground related.  have yo0u checked?
