Title: PD 4107-339
Post by: Geoff on August 24, 2018, 01:29:27 PM
I'm working on PD 4107 339.  It looks to have been a nice conversion, but now the paint is faded, it won't shift, and the engine is overheating.  It has a transplanted Silver 6V92TA and V730 with a Stone Bennett shifter, all mui.

First of all, the new owner was having trouble with the shifter, took it on and off, and told me many stories about the light indicators and not being able to get it into reverse.  I don't have a wiring diagram, and looking at old posts, I tried the United Transmission site and they no longer have a link to the Bennett shifter PDF file.  Anyone have it for V730?

I think the engine has cracked heads, it blows out rusty water.

I worked on the 4107 and got the Bennett shifter to work from Neutral to Drive , 2, 3.  But it won't shift back up or from Neutral to Reverse.  I can hear it clicking from the tranny but it's not moving.

The engine is not overheating as bad as I first thought, the rusty water boiling out was from the transmission cooler, and there is a small car radiator with an electric fan that is not plumbed into the engine correctly as the coolant is not circulating.  The V730 wasn't getting any flowing coolant and blew the tranny cooler seals out!

Geof
You may have to take the Bennet shifter apart as they get crud inside them due to where they are. Not much to disassemble one which you may have already done to get it to work. If it is the newer version where the air solenoids are attached and you need a new solenoid I have several new ones. Attached are the diagrams of each type.

They didn't attach all of them so here is another one.

Wonder what model it is air or hydraulic ?,most of the time if it shifts into other gears it is just the adjustment on the linkage if the shiftier shows R on the display

Thanks for everything, guys. It is an air shifter.  With Bill's diagram, I'll take it apart.
