I replace this less than 200 hrs ago. The price of new, like anything Webasto is crazy. I should figure a way to hook a generic dual terminal 12v coil to it. After all, a coil is a coil.....
I bought a dual Harley coil for that $ame reason. I'm not sure if it would work, my problem turned out to be the flame sensor. It's been so long I don't remember the details. I now have the Webasto factory test box, and a lot of NOS parts.
I read where MCI will not offer a Webasto in their buses now because they give so any problems they have gone to Pro/Heat a Canadian made unit
I guess I need to research and see what exactly the OEM coil puts out and go from there. I dont mind paying but this Webasto stuff is way out of line.
Aren't they just 8000 volts ?
Good question. Just how much output can there be from a 12v coil?
I've been working on a 35 year old chainsaw and used a small dirt bike coil I found on eBay for $12. The new coil worked great, but the electronic ignition is weak and unobtainum, so I am building my own. I'm sure the Harley Davidson coil would work, size might be a problem. I had to mount the dirt bike coil on the outside of the saw, the same could be done with the Webasto.

I have had my Scholastic (DBW 2010) heater for 20 years and it has been great once I learned how to use it by getting rid of air locks in the system. Only the flame sensor went out, all the other problems were self-created. Why would a ProHeat be better? They are made the same. Maybe something changed in the last 20 years.
I don't know is Pro/Heat is better or not,I just read where MCI dropped the Webasto for to many problems,they give problems I know several guys that carve out a good living working on the Webasto's in the Aqua/Hots.I never cared for my Webasto's I have one in my DL3 that is coming out
For such a simple design, I've yet to figure out why there are problems. Now, if someone could make one out of generic parts, they'd have something.
I'm thinking I may have pinched coil wires, which I'll check when I get back on Monday.

The DBW 2010 fuel pump puts out 145 psi. Just use a Detroit fuel pump and a heavier relief spring.
We ought to have a dedicated Webasto thread or sticky. For fixes, tips, hacks, etc.
My MCI has a Primus System. Whats the difference? is one better or worse? By the way no it doesn't work, and sense I don't know anything about it I have chosen to leave it alone.
Primus is a propane unit I had one in my Eagle a simple unit to work on.Join the Blue Bird Group they all have the Primus heat
Like a bus, Webasto, Aqua-Hot and Hydro-Hot units do not like sitting idle. These units like to be worked. Part of your monthly checklist should be to fire up your unit to blow out the cobwebs. I'm dreading digging into my Webasto. P.O. unhooked a lot of things and I'm uncertain the last time it was used. Might warrant a "rebuild"

Can't be any worse than when I fired up the Webasto on our old 4106 for the first time. Started smelling roasting chestnuts, and then looked out the window to see a stream of flaming red-hot acorns and walnuts flying from the end of the exhaust pipe. Couldn't shut the thing down fast enough.

And that is exactly why you inspect an unused device before turning it on, firing it up, etc.
Take the business end off the unit, and clean out the burning chamber before setting fire to your bus...

That coil looks very different than mine. Mine is round and looks like a gas engine coil. Or like a Harley coil with two outputs.

Ha, it may just be. I've never seen any different shape than this. This sits recessed, which is why the wires got pinched. Not Webastos fault, I had something to do with it, and there was a reason. If I could only remember what that reason was.....
