Title: What kind of anti-freeze do you use?
Post by: muddog16 on February 06, 2007, 04:13:53 PM
When I started pulling the old 8V71 out while disconnecting the coolant lines my antifreeze was a clear to clear puple mix, I'm not sure what it was exactly but as I cleaned and pulled lines I noticed that everything inside the cooling lines was spic and span........crystal clean what ever it was, it kept the lines clean!  Some of you guys like Busted use way more than I ever will, what do you see as the best anti freeze that you've tried?

That purple stuff is probably the ecological stuff that won't kill animals if ingested.  On my 8V-71 that has dry liners, I just use standard Prestone green stuff.  If you have a 4 stroker or 92 series with wet liners, low silicone should be used and be diligent on testing acidity so not to pit the liners.  Good lUck, TomC

Muddog, I use Catapillar anti-freeze. My local KW dealer sells it for $11.99 a gallon. It needs to be changed at 600,000 miles. Don't forget!
