Howdy everyone!
I recently completely gutted Gertrude, our 1991 MCI 102a3 with Stewart Wheelchair Lift. I put new batteries in the other day and now she won't start. The starter is spinning but she won't fire. Does anyone know if there is an e-stop switch that is part of the WC lift/door? I've not found anything regarding the WC lift or door in the manuals that I have so I'm wondering if there is an addendum to the manual for WCs?
Also I was airing up the coach the same day and while sitting in the driver's seat starting hearing a hiss. I found a spaghetti size air hose not connected to anything inside the transmission and e-brake housing. Can anyone tell me where that might go?
What have I gotten myself into?!?
Thanks for any help and suggestions,
Patrick
That looks like some kind of Skinner Vlv. but my good friend Cliff Allen will have to verify as I don't know jack. good luck buddy.
When you have air pressure and turn key or switch on, does the engine stop plunger retract from the stop lever on governor housing?
Might there be some fuses in the battery box, these could be a possibility. I would think the lift may prevent a transmission or its gear engagement.
Goid day

His photo is a picture of a inter lock for the brakes that won't allow release till the ADA device is closed,it will not keep the bus from starting though.I wonder if the guy has a DDEC engine and missed the power leads ? when changing batteries
Hey thanks everyone! I will check into all of those things when I get back over to her and keep you posted.
Thanks again,
Patrick
Yes the wheel chair door does have an interloc switch on it that will keep it from starting. Bill over in Delaware bought a DART bus w/WC once and called me while an Don Fairchild were together an told us the bus wouldn't start. After some going back an forth the three of us came up with the wheel chair door. Bill either got the door shut correctly or bypassed the switch an got it started. (I don't remember which solution he used.)
;D BK ;D
He can try bypassing the 2 wires to get it started the few Stewarts I have seen on older buses were on the parking brake you could not raise or lower it till the parking brake was set
Howdy BK, this is also a DART bus! So Bill in Delaware? I'm hoping to have her running so I can be in DE for a family reunion in July.
If you don't get going I have a couple of friends in Vegas that may help you out or Gary at B&B Coach is mobile now
I don't remember what he goes by on this forum, but his name is Bill Glenn from Seaford, DE he an his wife own a truck stop somewhere near there.
I know he still has the DART bus as I just saw it on his facebook posts about some work he's doing on the truck stop.
