Title: Coach Door Latch Repair
Post by: PNWorBUST72 on April 05, 2018, 05:12:17 PM
So is there a trick for repairing the little wires in the corners of the outside bays where that large screw grabs onto to secure the doors?

I have a few that are broken or the door is misaligned I need to work through...

Dzus connector...

Quarter turn quick fastener, on the ac condenser, under the driver's window, the dash panels, etc...

Far as I know, you'll be rolling your own repair...?

Happy coaching!

I know these are not exactly the same, but perhaps they'll give you some food for thought in fabricating your own.

Could you also use some steel rod the correct diameter and mount it by drilling holes in elevator bolts? I'm picturing the bolt going through from the outside, with the hole positioned just inside the sheet metal. The nut tightened from the back side would clamp the steel rod in place. Elevator bolts are just like carriage bolts, only with flat heads instead of domed.

Or, are used parts available from salvage vehicles?

Thats awesome thanks!  I think I will order a few of the steel rods and replace the missing ones.

As long as the screw goes into the mount, all I am missing in a few places is the steel wire.

THANKS!

You might want to call them first to check the diameter of the rod being used in theirs and compare against what you have. Should be pretty easy to fabricate something with thicker wire if theirs are too thin.
