I have purchased a set of Jake brakes for our 8V71. The solenoids that came with the brakes are 24 volt. I need a Jacobs part number for the 12 volt units I am going to order. The part number I got from the local Freightliner shop was for Series 50 and series 60 engines. Did I get a wrong number or are these solenoids interchangeable? Thanks for any help.
The series 50 will work if they for a 760 master head part number for the solenoids is 016440 Jacobs or PacBrake is PO4205 PacBrake are uselessly cheaper, the older Cat and Cummins used the same solenoids they are all over Ebay for around 50 bucks ea
Thanks so much for the quick response. We are scheduled for the install this coming Monday and the solenoids will be here the Friday before that. We are having our "bump" made up now and it should be completed by Friday. Can't wait to get back out on the road!
Love to see a picture and dimensions of the bump you're having made.
oops
Lin, we're heading down a slippery slope, here, my friend...it's not that kind of bump!
We will follow, with pics and details when done.
Thanks. I've pushed off my Jake install for a few weeks until I get a new aluminum bump-out made to replace the factory piece. I hope to get one that looks as close to factory as possible. Having dimensions and photos of what you're doing will be very helpful.
Here are the pictures of the bump, we still have to put a bead of sealer around it but it looks so much better than the original since ours had two holes in it from the old valve covers. We were rather worried it would not look good but it looks great! It is 32 1/2 inches wide.

Looks really great. Is that stainless or aluminum?
Do you have a measurement of how far it sticks out from the engine cover at the bottom corners? With that measurement and the photo I think that the shop I work with can get one made for me.
It is aluminum. We went close to the same thickness as the deck lid so it will be stable and added an LED license plate frame. We left the bottom open for a couple of reasons, mainly the fit also to possibly add a little additional air flow as a bonus. Here is a little diagram for our measurements:

PACBRAKE SOLENOID CROSS REFERENCE GUIDE
It is a pdf. file. You have to have the app or program to see off files. Works for me, I have led reader.
BTW, I noticed that they only list 12 volt solenoids for 71 and 92 Detroits.
I used 1013472 which is a 24v for the jakes on my 6v92. Works perfect.
They were much cheaper. 2 solenoid a for $70.
