Title: Airing Up MCI-9 Help
Post by: Kwajdiver on February 04, 2007, 10:31:16 AM
Hey Guys,

My MCI-9 is taking forever to air up.  This is the first time I've started the bus in 8 days. Temp. has been in the teens this week..   Does not want to air up pass 60 psi.  Have not a clue where to start looking.

How long should it take in 50deg temp.  I know 30 minutes is not getting it.

Thanks,

Bill

You may have a air relay valve that is frozen not letting air to build and just bypassing to the outside. Once it gets to the point where it doesn't want to go higher, turn off the engine and go outside to see if you hear any hissing and trace it to the valve that is leaking.  10 minutes should be the longest it takes to air up at idle.  Good Luck, TomC

Thanks Tom,

Operator Error,,,,,,Turn the enging off after sending the post.  Heard air hisssing, my door lock, that I have never used, was pulled out.   Once that was in, it pumped up, in just a few minutes.

Thanks, Bill

Check your wiper valves for leaks, park brake button, and the air lock button if you have air locks on the bay doors.

Then tap the governor with the butt of a screwdriver. It's probably stuck.

Ok, so I retract what I said  :)

I was going to just delete it since you found your problem, but I can't find the delete button. Used to be here. Not here any longer.

Missing:  One Delete Button. If found, please return to the board.
