Title: Video of our bus
Post by: Jerry W Campbell on February 18, 2018, 10:14:40 AM
Hey Friends,
We were passing thru Tucson for a stop at the VA and stayed on BLM land just west of town. As we were leaving a guy came up and asked to take a quick video of our bus. This is the video. I thought someone might enjoy it.

Cool video. I like how the exterior chimney is swept back. Do you cap it when you're driving? If not, does it blow soot into the interior?

I'd be interested in hearing how that works. I might do something similar.

It took a while to figure out exactly what to do about the stove pipe. This works good enough. The problem is the creosote from the pipe. There's a lot of creosote buildup in a small stove. The P.I.T.A. factor is quite high. You have to clean the pipe about once a month. When it rains it runs down the side of the bus a stains it for ever and ever. There is no problem going down the road. I made a "bib" about 12" long and 8" wide that attaches to the pipe and sticks out so that the creosote will drip on the ground. I add a cap on the end of the pipe so the smoke can get out but if the wind is blowing from the rear it will not blow down the pipe. It works great and keeps the bus toasty.

Great bus, Jerry! Thanks for sharing the video. Someday I'll have to get my bus cleaned up and shoot a video.

I got a wood stove hidden away at my dad's place for eventual use in my bus but for now we use a Platinum Cat heater that is excellent.

Very cozy bus!
