This one might be simple, what do these guys do? I think the front one is high beams, per trial and error.
The more AFT button is a mystery!
How about fog beams or air horn. Ours has 3 floor buttons... High beam, fog beams, air horn.
On my MC12 it would be a horn button but without knowing what your bus is ....?
Mine is an electric horn. If you have an air horn it could run an electric over air solenoid that supplies the air to the horn.
What vehicle do you have? I see it is not listed in your bio. Make, model, and year.
Oh, sorry guys, I failed to mention I have an 1973 MC-7 Challenger, Greyhound originally.
According to the comments I will likely narrow it down to horn?
I plan to take a mini trip this weekend, maybe I'll give it a push! I don't remember it making any noise, but I think my horn is aftermarket. The buttons on the wheel make it happen!

My mci has the button but no horn, so nothing happens when pushed. My electric horn works from the steering wheel buttons.
On our GM 4108 there is an electric horn that works from the steering wheel center button. The floor button works the air horn. Maybe once you get aired up you'll have both as well. Can you see the underside of the area from inside the compartment underneath?
Bird I am sure someone has suggested this before, but I am going to do it again.
If you'll modify your profile to show the type of bus you have and the general area oit will help us know what you have and what area you are from in order to help answer question w/o having to ask.
Now as for the rear button it is for the "air" horn and most likely will not work w/o some cleaning and and repairs.
I have seen them completely stopped up with dirt dobbers, mud and etc. I have seen corroded connections an or broken wires. Some are electric horns that are designed to sound like air horns, some are air horns operated by solenoids.
But one thing I caution you of is just pushing down on the button at random. I have seen them stick in the honking position and kept honking until disconnected!
First thing I would do is while parked wherever you do you normal work on the bus that others are aware of you having it there and won't be alarmed if a bus is sitting there with a super loud horn blaring. I would take a can of CRC (or similar brand) electrical cleaner and spray it all over, up under and just soak it heavily before working the button at all. I would do this with the power off and no air built, then after soaking it good with cleaner, I would use WD-40 or similar lubricating spray on it. after making sure it is cleaned and lubricated I would use my hand to push it and see if it will go up and down freely, if not keep spraying lubricant up into it with the little spray straw and keep working it until it moves freely.
Once it moves freely then I would turn the power on and start the bus to build air. (or hook shop air to it) and try it. If it blows great, if not open the compartment under it on the outside in front of the wheel. And trace the air lines or wires coming from the switch and find the horn it hooks too. Take a small hammer or large crescent wrench or something and tap/beat on it lightly and see if stuff starts coming out. If it does great it may start working. If not more trouble shooting will be in order, and that starts down a different path.
;D BK ;D
My DL3 has the turn signals on floor which I like, you see Jake switches on the floor also
1975 MC8 Greyhound origin parts bus, the rear most button activated the same electric horn as the steering wheel buttons.
Our other 1975 has an air horn valve in the same location.
Beware BK's advice on sticking buttons, regardless of type...
happy coaching!

To follow up on BK's suggestions here is the story of my air horn.
Bought the bus(GMPD4106) and spend about a year converting it. We lived at the top of a hill and at the bottom was a stop sign and a church. My son and I were in the bus for the first time and as I approached the stop sign I tried the horn. Of course it stuck and of course it was Snday morning and the chuch was having a service. I, of course, stopped in a panic looking for a screw driver to pry up the button. Peiople were coming out of the church to see what all the racket was about. Finally got it unstuck. I later took it apart and cleaned and lubricated it but, for some reason or another I have not tried it again since. That was 30 years ago. I keep forgetting to test it at home and am too scared to try it while driving.Maybe tommorrow.LOL
Correction ... it's an ejection button. For your own safety ... DON'T TOUCH THE RED BUTTON!
HI;
On my 70' MC-7, the front floor button in for the high
beams. The aft button is for the air horn. Mine works,
has a nice mellow tone also.
Merle.
Reminds me of our 4104. We were up in Prince Edward Island being escorted to our site at a campground at about 11:00 pm. I was trying to dim the high beams and due to the carpet thickness, accidentally hit the air horns button. Twice! Fortunately, the escort didn't react, but the family did. Dad, what are you trying to do? We're so embarrassed...Well, you know how it goes. When we got back home from the trip I had my buddy machine a 3/4 inch extension cap for it. Ended that problem.
On my RTS, I have floor buttons for the turn signals mounted on a 30 degree box which acts as a nice left foot rest. Once I got used to it, I like it better than an arm on the steering column. My air horn is set up like a truck with a chain pull. You can pull it and adjust the sound by how hard you pull. Play it like a musical instrument!

I knew what my "button" was when I found it. I just didn't realize that it would stick when I pushed it!
It blew for a good 3 minutes after I shut the engine down ;D It took me a good 30 seconds to figure out I could bleed some of the pressure off by opening the air tank drains!
I think I was well loved by my entire subdivision that day.

I speak from personal experience on stuck buttons.
Some where experienced at our shop where it was a minor inconvenience, others were in traffic, at crowded places and one was actually while pulled over on the side of the road waiting on a long funeral procession while test driving a bus for potential purchase and dad decided for some reason that would be a good time to test it.
After at least 5 mins of constant blowing I was finally able to kick the stuck button enough it freed up and quit blowing while EVERYONE around us was staring and wondering what was wrong with those 2 huys in that bus. (and yes an officer even came over to us to see if there was a problem!)

Bk gives new meaning to waking the dead eh.LOL ;D
