Title: Using Ozite for ceiling
Post by: Fred Mc on January 12, 2018, 11:39:28 AM
I notice that a number of people used ozite for their ceiling coverage.

Is there a particular type?
How do you fasten it?

If gluing what kind of glue?

Thx.

The old fashion rubber cement--red/black can.  The new water based stuff sucks. It will give you a high if used in enclosed area..

Lowe's sells 3m spray ahesive that works well we used it in shop to install replacement headliners. Make sure you use black and green can, I believe it is #98. Don't use the red and black type, I believe is #89, as it won't hold up to heat.

Screw it on so you can easily remove it if necessary.

I have used spray adhesive on automotive carpet, spraying both sides, letting it get tacky, then pressing it together.  It does not hold under gravity!  The outdoor carpet glue is speed on with the correct size teeth then you have to use a carpet/linoleum roller tool.  I put mine on 15 years ago and have never had a problem.

IME, it sucks up dust like a crack in the floor sucks up little screws that you dropped.

I have light grey Ozite on the ceiling and lower sides of my interior, and I don't have any of the problems mentioned above.  Ozite is like carpet, you can vacuum it or use spray carpet cleaner on it, but in 15 years I have never had to clean it.

Thinking of using this as it seems to me it would absorb noise better than a hard surface covering.
