Do you just notify Us customs at border or is there a special department. Thanks
If I remember correctly, any customs officer can help you. Just bring copies of all the paperwork on the bus with you to leave with them. To be safe, give them as much notice as you can. When you bring the bus through, they will come out and check the registration and serial numbers and send you on your way. Fairly simple.
Now the Canadian border is another story........ ::)
Iver.
Notify customs at border where you plan to cross and make sure they are able to take you at the time your going to cross. The part at the border is not too bad it's the crap afterwards.
This is NOT simple. Do not rely on our advice. Phone the US customs at the port you intend to cross at. Get names & specific instructions about what to do, preferably by fax so you can carry it with you. Then do everything they tell you to do, exactly as they tell you to do it. They have no sense of humour. I've done it with agricultural equipment and its no cakewalk. And as Ron said, getting across the border is dead simple c/w dealing with Transport Canada once you get the bus into Canada.
Best advice we can give you is not to take our advice. Phone the border crossing and get it straight from the horse's whatever.
You must fax the paper work to US customs 72 hours before you get there. When you arrive there they will pull up your paper work and inspect the bus and check the paper work. I looked up the fax number for the border crossing I was using. Check this link all the information you need is there. The Registrar of Imported Vehicles

I agree with all that has been said But before you do anything make sure the bus you want to bring in is on the list of busses that
CAN be brought into Canada.
I have brought 2 buses into Canada there is some tricks and declarations that can impede the process and help the process.
As mentioned above Don't Take it lightly have all the bases covered.
What are some of the particulars.... Share them ..... Don't paint yourself into a corner...... Plan to be creative if necessary....
It is all in the interpertation. Canadian side has attitude that needs stroking.... All the American side is concerned about is the bus is
not stolen they smile as you leave there side.
