I've pretty much decided that one of these 12 volt compressor models will be in my bus within a month. But on the internet I find very few places that carry either...
any of you have a recommendation where to get one? I'm looking at the fridge/freezer combos that are 7-8 Cu ft in size...
Tundra has been absorbed by Dometic and they are calling the old Tundra line the Marine refrigerators. Still the same with the Danfoss compressor-also like the Nova kool. Nova Kool should be available through some of the marine outlets ($$$). Norcold is still making a compressor type, only it is their design. I have a Norcold in mine, but it is of the old R12 type, so it works very well. I have heard conflicting stories on the new Norcolds.
Freightliner started using Norcold, then went to Panasonic electronic type (NG), and now Dometic/Tundra with very little problems. Good Luck, TomC
I have a http://novakool.com (http://novakool.com). For the $$$ invested -- not really impressed. In hindsight ... I should have simply bought a low wattage household unit and an inverter.
Just my $0.02,

Gary,
We have a 7.5 cubic foot Nova Kool refrigerator/freezer (RF7500) and could not be happier. Purchased from Backwoods Solar, http://www.backwoodssolar.com/ who had the best price at the time.
Note that, while the Danfoss compressor will run on either 12 or 24 volt systems, the 7500 model also has a compartment light in the fridge, so you must specify your voltage. (The light is just a Truck-Lite license lamp, though, so easy to change or replace with LED model).
I think the current model number is RFS7501-DC.
