Title: Finally reading DDEC II Codes (pics)
Post by: Scott & Heather on October 16, 2017, 04:32:40 PM
Thanks to some great advice over the past few weeks from Ken, I finally bought a Genuine (NOT Chinese) Nexiq USB Link 2 (Bluetooth), 12 pin adapter from Chalks Truck Parts in Houston, and after installing the DDDL software I am up and running reading live DDEC II data and I can change any parameter I want to. This is incredibly powerful software. I can read and clear my fault codes too now. I'll be spending the next few weeks really studying and learning this software and then I'll be installing Allison software so I can learn to start reading codes and info parameters on my 748 Trans. I wish I had listened to all of your advice and done this 8 years ago. It's amazing to have such power and control over my coach in my hands.... muhahahahah! Good deal Scott. When you get it all figured out what we're looking at, you can start a class for us dummies.

What did it cost to get it all done?

Looks strange to see .1lbs of turbo boost after working on my series 60 that idles at 5.3 lbs of boost

Lol, I am trying to wrap my head around all this. There's a lot more going on with these old DDEC two strokes than I ever thought possible.

Bill, $700 for the Nexiq, $50 for the 12 pin adapter. Already had the Windows Laptop.

Cliff, yeah I don't ever show any measurable boost at idle.

Most people have to buy the software too,lol I think I know where you got yours from.I was talking to a owner of a shop he likes the Chinese made Nexig link he tells me they are as good as any that he can buy a new one cheaper than the repairs I guess Nexig has a minimum now of $295.00 paid in advance with your card.I understand Snap/On owns that outfit now (Nexig)

Sounds like a good deal.  The best part of it is that it will allow just any buba mechanic to fix your bus right the first time.  I paid $1500 for the complete engine, tranny and ABS systems Nexiq link 2 with a laptop and Windows for my Isuzu TD  so I think you got a good deal.  Jack

Lol. Yep cliff. I'm really getting acquainted with the dlink software and I've pretty much sorted it all out now. I can't change a ton of parameters. I need a calibration software and a resistor to actually get the ECM into that mode, but that's ok for now. I am set to 500hp, smoke control is turned off so I have tasty acceleration and I'm happy at this point. I can bury the needle at 80mph and almost running against the gov at that point. Coach runs cool enough and goes up the hills without any drama at all.
