Title: Weight for towing
Post by: nginco on October 12, 2017, 09:51:09 AM
What is the max towing capacity for  1964 MCI MCC5 with an 8-V71 with a 4 speed. I have a 2001 Acura MDX weighing 5690 pounds.

Are you asking because you're considering installing a hitch, or is there an existing hitch on the bus now?

There is an existing hitch. We will be using a Blue Ox system and are concerned that vehicle is too heavy for this bus to tow.

Most buses never had a stated towing capacity because that was not an intended use. I would consider the Maximum Gross Weight rating of your coach to be your limit for both units. Weigh your coach to figure how much capacity you have, and make sure the hitch & mounting is sufficient to handle the load.

If the bus has a good hitch, the thing you need to worry about is overheating on hills.
