Reading about the members doing GM clutches and having trouble finding throw-out bearing sleeves and such, I wondered if any of the complete, mostly new, MCI clutch parts I now have on a shelf could have been useful as parts for someone? It's from an 8V-71 in a MC-5C, Spicer, and everything is in really pretty good shape, much of it rebuilt or new less than 7.5K miles ago.

My clutch is on the way out. I'm dreading getting it done. Just completed a journey of 5000 miles across the USA. When stationary it doesn't want to go into first. I've learned to shift using no clutch now. I'm dreading getting this done. Not sure who I trust to get it done.
Give me a shout when you get to do it. In my case the discs seemed to be hanging up on the input shaft splines and not being allowed to disengage. I have the whole clutch setup here, and I have another Spicer input shaft that has better splines than the one in my transmission. Usually a worn out clutch will slip under power, often in high gear, rather than not disengage.

Brian thank you very much! I appreciate it.
In 2013 when I drove from Illinois to Minnesota- the clutch started to slip until the vehicle would no longer move. when I had to get it towed to my (now) favourite mechanic- he managed to adjust it such that it no longer slipped but bit. He showed me the 'tap' that you adjust on the left side of the engine- which you lift and turn to adjust. I tracked one of your threads on how to adjust it. Thank you. Unfortunately it's out of adjustment now and wont turn anymore.
Since then, I only started driving again recently. I covered about 5000 miles across the US and did about another 1200 miles. It hasn't slipped since (yet) but has the engagement problems and I'm guessing it must be ripe for slipping as the 'tap' is out of adjustment. I've learned to drive on highway without using the clutch at all even on downshifts. The pedals engaging about 1.5-2 inches from the top- and hasn't migrated up much. Perhaps due to my judicious use of the clutch.
I met the crochety old man in Williams, CA, who basically pretty much said all MCIs were rubbish- and MC5s inparticular. made me feel great. No really...
SO I welcome any help. Thanks

That's the chap. I talked about upping the power some day and he was like 'Whats the point- just driver slower etc'. 30 mph up the mountains of Montana in 2nd is pretty taxing. I don't mind the performance at sea level and on the level road.
His mate Mike was super helpful and gave some super cool tips. He's restoring/renovating a 5A
