North of Tampa, Rushing around putting all the wheels/tires back on the bus to get it off of the blocks.
Didn't want the wind pushing it off its blocks.
Wishing I had not drained the diesel tank, could have run the generator on that...
Wishing I had the water tanks full of water..
Wishing I had the windshield in...
well maybe next time...
Stay safe man. This could get crazy

Even without a windshield, you can still drive it to safety

Irma could still be a hurricane when it hits Toronto. Or NYC. Or Detroit. Or my place in Nova Scotia. How do you drive to safety when it's impossible to tell where "safe" is? Climate change is rewriting the rules, regardless of what you believe is causing it. How ironic would it be if Irma writes Mar a Lago off?
Regardless, stay safe and take care.
Brian
Simple answer - lets all move to Colorado!

Tampa be careful of that storm surge! We're in near the Ocala National forest on some acreage. Stocked up on gasoline for generator power to power well & refrigerators - for who knows how long. Lots of big trees, will start sharpening chain saw blades tomorrow. Good luck.

Don't forget to stock up on ammo just in case there's a zombie invasion too :p

I want to wish all those that have chosen to stay in FL all the best to riding out this hurricane and those that are following Irma. I am really worried about our good friends we know in FL, (Jack & Paula, Manny & Darlene) that we have known for many years now that they have chosen so far to stay put. I wish we could change their minds about staying put but I do understand.
Something strange is sure happening around the world the past few months especially, Life is so darn short and May God bless those friends of ours and all floridians and their families. Again you guys, I hope you get to hell out of FL for these storms coming up as the devastation may be so severe your hearts will be broken for many years and I just wish you would get out now! Good Luck in your decisions, I can't send enough thoughts and prayers for all your safety issues ahead of you.
Gary
I'm getting the outer rain bands now. If it had held off, I'd have worked under my bus today. The storm has accelerated and is supposed to hit me at 3 or in about 5 hours.

Yes, you're near Columbia SC, right? I'm heading to Charlotte NC to work on my bus -- the situation there is terrible - the forecast is for almost 1/4 of an inch of rain to fall in the next 36 hours. Oh, the Humanity!!!! But it's better than being in Tupelo, MS; they expect 20 MPH winds there tomorrow!
Everyone go hide under your bus -- we'll all be killed!

I apologize for being so flippant. I've just charted the forecast track of the storm and the storm is forecast to come nearly 250 miles from Columbia. The horrors the next 24 hours will hold ...
I think we've had 1/4 of an inch in the past 20 minutes. Frankly, I'm quite pissed at Tezcatlipoca and will eventually have words with him! I don't think it's very sporting for him to send me rain and winds when I needed a nice dry day to work on my bus!

It's rather odd... I have today off as my school district declared there to be no school today. Tomorrow which is a more likely day for problems, I'm supposed to be driving hoards of eager little kiddies to school. I suspect they'll ring me to say not to come in.
You were no more flippant than I when I suggested that those that seemed over eager to flee, prepared also for a zombie invasion.
