Title: weight of 8V71
Post by: ChuckMC8 on January 29, 2007, 07:31:16 AM
Would a 3/4 ton pickup have the weight capacity to haul a complete 8V71 in the pickup's bed?
How much does the complete engine weigh? TIA

Chuck -

All three of the most popular bus engines (8V71, 6V92 and 8V92) weigh about 2200 - 2400 lbs dry (no fluids).

Best if strapped to a pallet.

Might be better to rent a car-hauler trailer from U-Haul and center the engine over the two axles - the pick-up can easily pull the trailer, rather than adding the weight to the bed (and to the rear tires!).

FWIW & HTH. . .

;)
