Has any one had an instance with a Tracstar satellite refusing to lock on to Direct TV ?? This thing didn't work when I bought the bus.Started trying to get it to work,.So far I have replaced the LNB ,the ell motor and the main box with the latest up grades. My new found friend at Newsome Electronics has supplied me with the parts ,some of which I bought ,some he gave me and has spent considerable time on the phone with me .He tells me that Direct TV customers in the SE are still using the Tracstar with no problems ,and this includes most of the NASCAR teams. Here is the problem that has he and I both stumped. We have run every test in the Tracstar manual all of wich it passes with flying colors but it absolutely refuses to lock on to the satellite.Have any of you ran into a similar problem?? And if so what was the problem? I know that if I keep this bus I will have to replace the Tracstar ,but till I decide .I would love to get mine to work. And as alway's ,thanks in advance for any and all help!!!!
I can't help with Tracstar but terrestrial broadcast TV still works, if that might be an alternative for you and... it's free to view.

Have you tried locking on with the dome off the assembly? If not, try that and see what happens. I used to install tracstar (as well as kingdome, Kvh, Motosat, rfmogul, etc) and I believe the older ones had compass's that had to be calibrated, which consisted of driving the coach in circles a few times.
Red,
There is an update to the software that had to be loaded about a year ago. It was available on line and is not a big deal to install. The Tracstar is nearly bulletproof, but a while back they had a bad batch of connectors that prevented proper operation. It was the connector that the incoming coax cable connects to, and the internal coax joins. Look at that connector and if it has a blue center it might be the issue.
Now I am out of ideas.
At quartszite last year we got the Dish dome thingy with the Wolly unit. Got the Flex package with the news package. We rarely watch TV but when we try to watch this it takes 20 minutes to get it to a viewing stage if there are no trees in the area and then 80% on the channels are pay per view or watch and Buy our crap channels for 40 bucks a month? :'(
I Have a freedom sat and they are no longer in business. My system worked fine until I switched to dish network. I went without tv for 2 years until we switched back to direct. When they installed the new genie system in my house they brought an additional receiver for my camper. It wasn't compatible so they had to send a different one. One was swm and I believe the one I needed was non swm. This is winegards site but the info may help. http://www.winegard.com/directv/directv-compatible-satellite-antennas (http://www.winegard.com/directv/directv-compatible-satellite-antennas)
When I say the receiver wasn't compatible I meant my dish could find the sat but wouldn't lock onto it. Just like the problem you're describing.
Happy to say guy's ,I think I may have found my problem.I down loaded a Trackstar tech manual off the internet and read something that that kind of stuck with me .It said that all Tracstar units were shipped from the factory programmed for a dual LNB.If the unit was for a single LNB ,which mine is .it had to be reprogrammed.I checked and sure enough ,it was set for dual LNB .I changed the programming to single .turned it back on and it locked DTV in less than a Minuit.Ain't took the receiver and actually test drove it yet,but it seems to be working as it should.

The problem with Dish is their satellites circle the earth in a lot lower orbit than Direct tv's does which makes them a lot more prone to interference from trees buildings and other obstructions
