I know there is another thread going but it it's pretty west coast focused.
Looks like north of I-80 would be best.

I'm a MN resident so I'm not versed on the BLM situations.

Anyone else planning anything? Let us know you super secret spots, we won't tell.
We will be in Alliance on the 21st. We made reservations a month and a half ago most thing were sold out then. Alliance said they will have a bunch to do the weekend before we will be there to find out. Our farm is just south of Hay Springs and out of the total Eclipse or I would have room for a few busses. We will watch the eclipse on the 21st and then leave to be in The Dells of Wisconsin for the start of the eagle rally starting the 23rd
Crazy... We'll be coming FROM the dells to an eclipse viewing.
We will be driving down from Des Moines to watch it. The total darkness Path is literally 2 hours south of where we are with our bus. So we will drive down, hang out between 12:00 and 1:30pm CST and head back up all in the same day. Gonna be amazing!

People are paying outrageous parking fees and room rental to see something that only last a couple of minutes.

Yeah, I've been through 2 totals and at least 4-5 partials. But my big thing is that I'm going to be on the shores of La Grande Fleuve in Quebec and that's just too far to go, anyway -- although the area of totality will pass less than 100 miles from my home.

It does seem people are going nuts over something that has very little to recommend it. I've been through two total eclipses. The first I could be excused for being impressed by because I was 3 at the time. The second I barely bothered going out of the house. The BBC went nuts over it though. This time I might step out of the trailer to take a photo or two.

So for once I feel like I won the lottery, well the eclipse lottery that is. I live directly in the middle of the total eclipse line! :D But I might still go out of town and get away from all the crazies! Our town is about 60k now and they are thinking another 40-100k are going to visit! CRAZY! I live right in the middle of town so unforunaly I don't have space to offer for anyone though :'( This will be my first one to see. :)
